I give more details in the Class Guide for Totemic Druid. I tend to use the lion since he has the best thaco. This is extremely good on LoB, with better stats than a straight fighter at level cap and a ton of immunities. One of the summons can fear enemies, making them run around and actually become more difficult to kill. You can't use any other actions with it, which is a pain, but you continually replace your summons as they die.

See the section on "Early Items & Gold" for how to acquire this. Technically this isn't a summon, but it's easily obtainable at level 1 and you can use it to "charm" an enemy into fighting and acting as a tank for you. On LoB difficulty your summons have bonus stats, so they will actually be even better than what's listed here. See the Find Familiar fandom page for the full breakdown. The Ferret (Lawful Neutral) can pickpocket, including from you, which has some exploits (like smuggling the rift device out of the sewers in BG2) and is more useful in the long run in my opinion. The Pseudo Dragon (Lawful Good) familiar has the best AC & HP regen, making it the best tank. Your familiar can actually be pretty effective against early enemies. Take Find Familiar as a starting spell if you're a mage and use it immediately.

See my list of "Early Items & Gold" for how to acquire this. It can even be obtained at level 1 with a bit of work, and can practically beat the game by itself. This is the simplest, most ubiquitous way to summon monsters. What do you think of my walkthrough of this game? Do you have any tips for me? Please leave a comment.Level 1 Options Wand of Monster Summoning (Mages, Bards) In the next session of my Baldur’s Gate walkthrough I will deal with Bassilus.

The process to change Melicamp back to human was dangerous but with our help, Thalantyr was able to do it. When we got to High Hedge, Thalantyr didn’t want to hear us out but we convinced him to help Melicamp. And then he talked himself out of the job. Outside High Hedge, we a thief, Permidion Stark, who told us he was going to rob the place but that the mage at High Hedge had two hideous flesh monsters guarding him. We couldn’t so the next thing we did was take him to Thalantyr in hopes he would help. He had accidentally transformed himself into a chicken and asked us to change him back if we could. Instead, we met a talking chicken! Actually, it was Melicamp, apprentice to Thalantyr of High Hedge. We made our way southwest to find Bassilus or those half-ogres Bjornin wanted us to take care of. The Adventures of Alysin in Baldur’s Gate has her and her party help an apprentice mage at High Hedge.
